Zx4rr accident

Hey guys, it's been a while since I last posted on this forum, and I wanted to update you—I had my first motorcycle accident on the ZX4RR after riding 23,000 km in just one year!

Here's what happened: I was riding on a mountain pass in Tuscany that I know very well. There was a nice turn that starts off blind but then opens up. I entered the turn at around 50-60 km/h and hit a large patch of sand right in the middle of the lane… I went over it with both wheels, and before I even realized what had happened, I was already on the ground. The bike slid on its right side, flipped over, and crashed into a tree. Luckily, I’m completely fine—I had put on my full leather suit this morning and the Dainese pouch helped to avoid thigh wounds.

Here are some pictures of the bike. It's currently at the Kawasaki dealer to understand the damages. The front fairing definitely needs to be replaced, along with the display and the side panels. Fortunately, the frame sliders helped limit the damage, but the impact with the tree was quite strong.

I’m waiting to receive the repair estimate. I’ll keep you updated. If the OEM plastics are too expensive, I’ll probably order them from AliExpress.

Glad you're OK, that's really the most important thing ! I hope the bike will be back in good shape soon. I'm no motorcycle mechanic, but the damage seems to be mostly on easily replaceable parts (bodyworks, pipe, gauge cluster). If OEM bodywork is too expensive and nobody around is selling take-offs from their own ZX-4RR, I know of ABS fairings that make ZX-4RR fairings in a lot of different colors, inspired from the OEM graphics. Replacing the Akra pipe might be expensive though. The gauge cluster is shared between a lot of different Kawasaki models so I hope you can find one for a good price on ebay.

The only thing that kinda worries me is the head-on collision with the tree, which could have bent the forks. I think bent forks might be repairable, or at least replaceable but maybe expensive ? Another thing worth checking is the frame, to see if it's bent, and if the swingarm is damaged. Take this reply with a grain of salt, as I've never repaired a bike myself and have only watched other people do it on youtube :ROFLMAO:

If you guys are interested, there's a youtuber named ChaosCauses who repairs crash damaged sportbikes and supernakeds and the videos are really entertaining (y)

I can't turn left at the moment, at least not completely. I really hope it didn't bend the forks because the display alone is over 1000€. If the plastics are expensive, rather than buying different ones, I will buy the carbon fiber ones from AliExpress. They scan the original parts and then make the carbon fiber piece. It costs around 150/300€ per piece. I already bought the mudguard and the pan belly in the past and fit perfectly. The exhaust is not a big problem. Those scratches give it a lived-in look eheh

That's really sad. But the damaged parts can be replaced. I can help you with this in case you want anything to be shipped from Thailand. I recently replaced by front headlight cowl and I have found a really good OEM supplier in Thailand. If you get a quote from your dealer in Europe and feel that it's very expensive I can help you out with a quotation from my oem supplier.
