Howdy,
just checking in.. what's 6th gear 80mph on rpm?
I'm on the fence of giving up my Harley Dyna as my commuter and use the 4RR, unless it becomes an obstacle. I know this is a very personal question, some are diehards and ride 300miles without a stop to pee while others need a bagger with fairing, heated seats and grips and surround stereo to get from one bar to the other.. I'm somewhere in the middle, neither Tom Cruise nor Jack from SoA..
I don't daily my Panigale due to the high seat height and extreme seating position. From what I understand, the 4rr is way more upright, I could see myself riding this to work. With a tail bag i should be able to move some items around, seat height is strikingly low which is my primary reason to buy this over an Zx6r but again, how good is this thing on the highway?
For the reference, my Dyna has 120hp and is doing 85mph with 3.000rpm.
Thanks,
Christoph

I daily my ZX4RR about 35 minutes everyday to and from work, with 65% (23 miles) of it being on the highway.
As @AV80R said, with stock gearing the bike rides at about 80mph at 8000rpm, ±1-2mph depending on weight. I couldn't say whether that's high or low on the RPM range compared to other bikes, but the bike goes up to 15600rpm, so it falls right down the middle. It's also about the same RPM range I was in with the Ninja 400 and the CB650R. The bike doesn't feel overly stressed, and you still have plenty of power to pull away or overtake at 6th gear. As for mpg, my dash says I'm getting around 37-40mpg when I'm riding on the highway, and it feels accurate enough. I do ride a little spirited in the city though so my true mileage might be a little lower.

The ride style is still sporty, with a slight tilt forward, but I commute with a backpack and a tail bag on occasion and it hasn't been an issue. I've never felt uncomfortable, maybe a slight stretch here and there but nothing out the ordinary. I would recommend doing the handlebar vibration fix that another member posted doing, because stock handlebar vibration can get quite annoying after a while.

It's a little difficult with the weather getting cold (here in the northeast) since bundling up with all the extra layers also makes it harder to be flexible on the bike. If you wear thick gloves like I do for the morning rides, it makes it a little annoying to shift with the lever. Thankfully we have the quickshifter to do most of the work.

tl;dr
ZX4RR can make a great commuter bike. It's quick, lightweight for getting around city traffic, and mpg is good for what it is.

For reference, since I have the ZX-6R and put 13k miles on it over the past 2 years, at highway speed the ZX-6R is also doing about the same RPM to MPH, 60mph=6k rpm, 70 mph=7k rpm and so on.

By the way, with clip-on risers that remove the 26% downslope at the wrists, and a 1 inch lower seat, the ZX-6R is very confortable sport touring machine. Basically, with a 2 mods the ZX-6R is almost the same seating position as the ZX-4RR.

As others have stated, RPMs in 6th gear average 1000RPM per 10mph (8,000 @80mph.) I have driven my Zx4rr a few times to work, which is 80 miles each way. No back, hand, or knee fatigue. I actually found the Zx4 more comfy on longer trips than my old Ninja 400. I usually putter between 65-70mph on the highway and average 56mpg doing so. The bike is far from stressed at 70mph and will easily accelerate to felony speed when needed for passing other traffic.
