I know this is dumb, but I'm gonna change out the Graves rear stand bolts/nuts to titanium too [emoji1787]

I would love to see these kits pieced together specifically for the zx4rr

@AV80R any way you can post pics/video of the the 3200 mile maintenance service you speak of? I still cant figure out how to properly take off all of the fairings and cant find any info anywhere

I'm just using the ZX-4RR parts diagrams to identify the diameter and length of every bolt. If it's on aftermarket stuff like the Graves clip ons or Woodcraft rear sets, I measure the bolts myself.

I could post a list of all the titanium fasteners in a build sheet with quantities if anyone is interested.

The 3200 mile service is something I created. The normal interval for oil changes is 7500 miles, but I think that's too long.

If you click the Factory Service Manual Reference link in my signature, you can get step by step instructions on how to remove all the fairings as well as lots of info on periodic maintenance schedules and instructions on how to carry out the service.

Thanks. Poor @vcyclenut has been listening to me for weeks (months?) on trying to get a header to work together with the stock muffler to delete the cat.

Apparently all it takes is money (@Gravesport provided the link pipe which made this possible) and time (Vcyclenut is the hardest working independent tuner out there for the ZX-4RR)

I'm so excited to send my ECU out to him!!

The high post count is an embarrassment, actually. I am too excited about posting about bolting cool parts together on this bike and probably need to chill out.

My wife doesn't really care, so I don't have anyone to talk to about this stuff but you guys.

Norton makes a kit that covers a decent amount of hardware on the zx4, especially the rotating bits

I bought that kit, and it's overpriced but it does the job for the very limited number of items it addresses. The quality of the machining on some of the items is not nearly as nice as the Mettec stuff though.

You could piece that kit together for much less at Mettec but you're paying for the convenience of just buying one SKU.

Pictured below is what $400 gets you at Mettec which is way more than what Norton gives you for $329.

Also don't listen to the Norton recommendation to only torque titanium fasteners to 2/3 the torque of steel. They're wrong.

Here's a build sheet of all the titanium fasteners on the bike so far if anyone is interested in going down this rabbit hole too.

Here is the link to Mettec for current pricing on their PNs: Shop for titanium nuts, bolts, or washers

What boots are $1,500?! Jesus. Did no one else notice that mention?
😂 I did but realized to keep the trap shut. 😉
I have seen some too line boots for near a grand and although they're nice if you're a top line racer the mere track day enthusiast won't need something so extreme.

My Torque3 boots saved my ankle on my last low side and thankful for the quality made boot. 🙏🏽

Best motorcycle boots on Earth. Nicky Hayden loved them too.

You have to decide how much your feet are worth. I've had mine for 24 years and they have saved me in a few crashes. I don't know of any other boot that is modular and can last this long, so the $1500 isn't as expensive as it sounds. The killer feature is that you can replace the outer boot after a crash or when the soles wear out and then they are like new again.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I ordered a shift lever, PN 13042-1848 which is made of aluminum and shorter than the stock steel one on the ZX-4RR.

Unfortunately it won't work since the ZX-4RR has female threads and this one has male.

I guess I'll keep looking. The stock steel one is heavy and ugly. Getting a shorter one will also make the travel shorter, albeit at the expense of slightly more effort. I've found this mod to work well on other Kawasaki's.

Security 3 Evo Race slightly cheaper here. not sure why they don't seem to be available stateside, even though there are 3 dealers for daytona here.

Have you tried to pull the rubber boot cover back over the heim joint to see if that make thread is removable?
It's flexible enough to pull back as I e done this on my VTR to clean and re-grease the heim joint connection.

If I remember correctly, at least on the VTR it's removable leaving a female thread available to use.
Check it out and see.
It won't hurt to look and let us know the results of your finding. 👍

£569 for the outer boot and £900 for the inner boot is around $1800 USD...more expensive than $1500 USD! Were you looking at the combined price of both?
