Aluminum frame, torquey 3-cylinder engine, full electronics suite (including cruise control), $12,499. And it comes in white/red!
Tempting.

More like how my RD500 turned out after I sold it to a friend, and he had it repainted.
I knew a guy that had the aluminum framed Japanese bike with a built Canadian engine in it.More like how my RD500 turned out after I sold it to a friend, and he had it repainted.

I never should have sold it. 😢
Thanks.So the R9 is delayed somewhat. Dealers may get some units as early as March while other units will not arrive until Q3. Allocations may be reduced.
I’ve always thought I was a Yamaha guy, my first bike was an ‘86 FZ600 and I then took a 10 year break until the 2000 R6 (‘98 r1 & ‘99 r6 looked so enticing I was pulled back in).
And after another hiatus of 20 years, the ZX4rr was too much to resist. But when the r9 was announced, I had to put a deposit down….and with this potential 6-month delay, I have more time to figure out . . . . Do I really want an r9?
I dig the power delivery of the ZX4rr, but wish it was a bit more. I’ve got to be 8-10k before she really kicks in (thanks @vcyclenut!). But isn’t that the point? That wind up like a my favorite twin turbo car I wish I never sold.
My thought is the r9 will have more torque down low than I’ve had on a bike, so I won’t have to rev it like a 17 year old in a WRX. But do I want instant-on torque? I was overwhelmed by the torque on the KTM 1290 SuperDuke when I traded with a bud…too much for me to enjoy. Will I miss 15k at legal speeds?
To those that have experience with the CP3 engine, or similar triple, how do you compare to the ZX4rr.

@Florida limeThanks.
Sounds like what happened with my dealer with my 40th Anniversary 4RR. Took a couple months for them to get one in compared to many dealers.
Same dealer again for my R9, so I'm sure I'll get screwed again. 🤬
I posted that letter on the R9 forum.
The '98 R1 and '99 R6 were bikes I owned in the past.@Florida lime
Very cool you had/have the Y1 r1 & r6. At the time they both seemed like massive generational leaps in power, focus & looks. I agree with you on the XSR900 GP coming to the US, a lot of us would line up for one, especially with this kit:

Do you ride the ZX4rr or the Z900 more?
Perhaps I can familiarize you with the Motorcycle Ownership Equation: how many bikes should a person have? N + 1. "N" being the current number that one owns.I really want an R9, but just can't think of giving up my ZX4RR. After years of dreaming of owning a 4 cylinder bike (really only for the sound), the ZX4RR was the perfect bike for me. After owning it for almost 2 years, I feel ready for more power, but not ready to give up the 4rr. Its just too special of a bike for me. An R9 to me would be the perfect yin the the rr yang while still being a sport bike. I dont know if I'll be able to own both, but that's my goal.
