Seriously.... I was going over the specs, the videos from Asian countries and thinking that the ZX4RR was too budget for the money. Too much Hassel to open the bike up to be what it should be right out of the box. I mean look at a ZXR6... for comparison.

Why? Things like non removable sub frame, max power and torque neutered, single side adjustable forks, a little too much weight..... all budget decisions on the new bike in my opinion. This sends a cheap build message to me... which is strange for Kawasaki.

I curate the bikes I own very carefully. The bikes I buy have a purpose and a type of personality if you will. That I goto when the urge matches my mood. I ride my bikes like they're designed to be ridden, sometimes a little beyond, and I also take very good care of them....

But someone changed my mind about the little ZX4RR.... Chuck Graves video posts here on the forum! Yes, it will take some hassel and extra money to have Chuck fix the bike like I need it to be. I'm okay with this now because Chuck is showing that the bike CAN and will be something special.

The ZX4RR will have a personality, and with Graves tweaks, parts and adjustments the personality will be exactly one I want as a permanent addition to my stable of bikes to ride when the mood strikes.

This might be the only run of this bike. It's quite possible this day and age.

I'M KEEPING my deposit on my ZX4RR and excited to get the bike in June.

I was pretty PO too when I heard about the limited version, and almost told Kawi to stick it.
This bike will be 17k plus by the time I get it to where it should have been from the factory.
Limited runs cost money, I get it.
I don't have to like it, but in this case, I have to do it.
I hope the end result is worth it.
I never bought the RVF400 or ZX-4r I wanted back in the day, so eff it, I'm picking one up.

 

No single bike is perfect straight out of the box.
If you don't add anything to the pot of stew it's never going to have that special flavor and cars along with bikes are the same way.

I personally like the bike because it's already an icon just by its scarcity and what it is.
It's also the magnificent sound it makes that only this engine can make from a 400 inline 4.
It's what I've wanted in a bike of this character. 👍

So, when you’re talking about limited power, are we still talking about 80HP? Or is there a limited version for the USA due to carbon blabla? I am asking because I am afraid there is a chance that Europe will manage that for the same reason.

 

Yes. Thank you for asking. I am speaking about the US limited power version due to EPA regulations. Having the full 80 HP with Ram Air working is acceptable to me for sure.

I want to ride the ZX4RR at Road America Race Track for track days.

 

The HP figure that Kawasaki provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is 42kW or 56hp. So 25% less than the EU.

The guess is that the lower HP numbers from Europe is because of our emissions and noise ratings, leading Kawasaki to limit the RPMs to 11,500.

 

Blame the EPA and regulations, not Kawasaki. Every new performance bike / car is detuned because of it.

No one blames Kawasaki. All OEM’s would like to have the freedom to decide about power and revs. It is the stupidity of the so called world leaders these days.

 

Disagree, a lot of people think it's the manufacturers' fault that bikes aren't performing well out of the box.

I have a CRF450L and it's unrideable when stock, lots of people think it'is Hondas' fault.

 

Does anyone know if the bike will be de-tuned in EU (Germany)?
