Do you guys think the ZX-4R will be classified in the same class as a 600/100? Or something more akin to a ninja 400/650. Those two categories have multitudes different prices for younger people.

I checked with my insurance company Progressive and this is what I'd pay per year with the N400 and ZX4R with full coverage and trailer coverage.
Trunks Building Shorts Window Tree

That price is about $55.25 per month for 2 bikes.
I pay it yearly to save higher payments per month.

Once I get an actual VIN number in to Progressive I'll have a finite figure for what I'll be paying. 👍

I was paying 198 a year for the Ninja 400 and 396 per year for the new ZX6R for full coverage. When I had both bikes at the same time my insurance was still only 398 a year. My guess is the ZX4RR will be between 300-400 in my case because it's a much more expensive motorcycle than the Ninja 400.

So while it will be classified as a 399cc and benefit from the low displacement, the replacement cost is going to jack up the insurance premium.

Who is your insurance company and how long have you been with them.
Thanks

I've been with progressive for over 20 years and have never filed a claim or had an accident while with progressive.
Me as well with zero accidents my fault.
1 hit and run, 3 people rear ending me, and all were women driving. 🤦🏻🤷🏼‍♂️😂

With the 4RR I'll be paying about $700 a year for both bikes with full coverage on each and trailer protection too. So maybe that's not a bad premium I'm paying. 🤷🏼‍♂️👍

I work for an insurance company. I’ve quoted around and I’m in the $600-$800 a year ballpark. None of the insurance companies seem to have the symbols loaded in yet. They are about a year behind brand new models on average. It will likely be a street sport but the cc rating will help on $$$.

That would be pretty much half of a cbr650r or R7 for me, same as a ninja 400. If this is the case when vin numbers come out that's wild and a huge plus

While I’m not in the insurance biz, there are soo many variables to a quote:

Age, driving history, credit, marital status, location, m/f, multi moto, etc..
You are correct. Those can make it variable so hard to compare apples to apples (I work in UW/product/pricing). But the largest premium factor of the policy base rates is the multiplication of the vehicle symbol and ccs. That far exceeds any other factor. With many not having the symbol loaded in yet it needs to be manually calculated as “other” and the necessary symbol. Some carriers will manually review these after the policy is purchased within the underwriting discovery period, so be cautious not to choose the lowest price symbol like cruiser or touring. Or you might be shocked with a premium up rate notice and a big new bill. But big picture, the 399ccs is a major benefit as many carriers use that as a large portion of their rate factors.
