US units will be neutered.

Kawa submitted on Jan 27 NHTSA VIN information data sheets for the US 4R/4RR (ZX400PP (ZX-4R) and ZX400SP (ZX-4RR)) as 42kW (56hp).

Only 1,000 units are reported to be coming to the US in the first batch.

This information has already been posted in another thread so try using the search function before posting duplicate information.

We are waiting for Kawasaki to provide more details about the HP for the US market as this may be limited to CA vehicles.

The Canadian website states the rpm is limited to 11.5 but no such disclaimer exists in the US site.

Even if the US spec is limited to 11.5 rpm, an ECU flash will remove that restriction and get full power out of the engine.

@mattv the same guy posted this garbage on the Ninja 400 forum, what difference does it make if you don't have a deposit on one and that "speculation" has no baring on most buying this new bike and until it's actually been verified, what's the purpose of sharing this useless information

To answer your question, the benefit of posting the link and instructions is so that people can occasionally check the federal government filings to see if anything has changed. They'll know before motorcycle.com or whoever writes an article if kawi updates the specs.

No, my dealer is supposed to call me if/when they get one in. I want to see it in person and sit on it, etc. I was really disappointed about the weight, so I didn't put a deposit down. The hp can be fixed, but it's like a gixxer 750 weight-wise.

I personally believe in sharing information if you've got it. A new bike is coming out that fills a niche, people want to know about it. I don't consider the information irrelevant to those without a deposit.

Agree to disagree, I suppose.

i have a depost on 3 of them and they will all be put on a dyno and weighed, then pipe filter tune and flashing ECU. anything posted on this bike without "race" shops actually getting their hands on them is speculatory at this point . to each their own if they want to fill these forums with misinformation or useless uneducated stuff

@noob its all speculation until the bikes are in our possession
It's killing me man, I google search zx-4r everyday looking for new updates lol. I'm still buying it either way but I wish they would confirm more info about it. Only thing that will stop me is if the dealer tries to rip me off like they did on a tenere last year.

So assuming it is rev limited. And we get the ECU flash. What about the digital dash? Is that going to show a redline of 11.5K or is that function of the ECU as well?

Also how does he know it's only limited to 1,000 units at launch?

Sorry I'm a noob.
Yes, after an ECU flash the dash will show full redline range to 16k.

Also, I wouldn't get too caught up on HP unless you are racing on a track. Most street riders will ride in the peak torque range which will be around 12k and under anyway but an ECU flash will improve driveability and performance.

My first street bike was a 1985 GPZ 550 that weighed 460 pounds with 64 BHP and it was fast enough to outrun the man a couple of times.

Yeah not too worried about the HP. Be my first sportbike but not first motorcycle. Rode two-stroke dirtbikes when I was younger. My current bike is a XR650R street legal. It's pretty fresh . It's uncorked so I'm guessing maybe just under 50HP at the wheel. It doesn't have the power characteristic of two-strokes though. Wher you get up to a certain RPM the rest of the RPM's and power just come on violently and it's screaming. I'm kinda hoping for that but at a more reasonable speed than a 600.

I have the Moore Mafia ECU flash on my ZX6R and my Ninja 400 had the SuperBike Unlimited race flash. Both shops are within driving distance from my house and I drove out to meet Chris Moore to have the ECU flashed. I also drove out to SuperBike Unlimited and met Freddy for the Ninja 400 ECU flash.

I will probably use either Moore Mafia or SBU for the ZX4RR because I like to use local shops where I can meet with the tuners.

you posted the same :poop: on N400 forum
Maybe he works for Yamaha?

Anyway,
1. I'm the only person online in the entire world who doesn't track and just wants to cruise around with something sexy so I'm not concerned.

Also there are two solutions
2a.An Ecu will fix it if you can wait a few months for it to come out.

2b. You can just lie to people who talk to you. Two months ago I was at this donut shop with a Vitpilin 401 and this girl was all interested and asked the power and I said It's a 746cc but she asked why it said 401 and I said they always name bikes by different numbers and said the ninja 400 is a 399cc, for example. Then I told her its 373cc per cylinder. Then I waited for her to leave first because I didn't want her to not believe me when she hears that it sounds like a Go-kart riding away.

Just lie. It doesn't matter anyway, 95% of people can't even tell what you have anyway. Personally I think the phantom Purple R3 will get more attention than this one.
